Autism is the biggest curse given to the small kids today. They find it very difficult to interact with people and socialize with them. To make life easier for them, Google has brought a superpower wearable glass that helps autistic children to have perfect communication with others.
The application is available for all Android and iOS users. The basic prototype of the software is to make physically challenged children having age from 3 to 17 more social, generate eye contact and increase facial affect recognition.
Autism is the developmental disorder categorized by plights with social communication and interaction. Currently, the software is named as superpower glass, but Google might change it once it rolls out fresh in the market.
This superpower glassworks on the concept of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Google keeps on working on such sort of experimental projects continuously. It is a pair of glasses having focused sensors that display a live head-ups display. It previously offered a similar device in 2013 for $1,500 that helped researchers to couch children having autism spectrum disorder.
The device was named as Holli. It listened to the conversation of autistic people and prompted user with an appropriate answer. Holli suggested some replies such as Hello, Hi or Hey if the other person greeted the user with Welcome. But, the wearable system software failed to work correctly to some extent, Google thought.
An experiment was conducted on 14 children who had autism. They were asked to use this superpower glass software for 10 weeks. After completion of that period, researchers generated the results, and they were quite astounding. Those children showed improvement in social skills such as increased eye contact, and progressive ability to decode facial expressions.
The device identifies the facial expressions and natural emotions of the deceased child and informs people contacting them about what they are trying to convey with the help of emoticons of glass display or via audio.
We appreciate Google’s this effort to make autistic people understand what others want to convey or express them using facial recognition software. The glass is not only valid for others to communicate with autistic children but also much helpful for doctors to carry out flawless treatment on those patients.
